Aquatic Fowl Couples
Just last weekend, we added two more geese to our little geese flock. They are Canada geese, a bonded couple, and each being about 3 years old. These two came from the same family who gave us Angel Boy and his mom last October (thanks E.R. and family!).
When we released these two from the carriers, they both stumbled into the pond and immediately started making quite the racket. They saw the other geese, two of which they know from their previous home, and made a beeline for them. Angel Boy was the first to greet them and spent the most time with them while we lingered down there. After the initial racket, they settled right in and started grooming and playing in the water.
Near to the geese, were a few of our ducks. Here we have a couple, a female Muscovy, and some beige drake we call Woody. She flies, he doesn’t. So, when she leaves him for a cruise around the farm, he swims around the pond making forlorn noises. He has started trying to learn how to fly, but mostly he just crashes into things and falls a lot. Really, he is safer in the water.
